Hemp has been dubbed the strongest fiber in the world! Hemp is among the oldest industries on the planet, going back more than 10,000 years to the beginnings of pottery. The Columbia History of the World states that the oldest relic of human industry is a bit of hemp fabric dating back to approximately 8,000 BC.The bark of the hemp stalk contains bast fibers which are among the Earth's longest natural soft fibers and are also rich in cellulose; the cellulose and hemi-cellulose in its inner woody core are called hurds. Hemp stalk is not psychoactive. Hemp fiber is longer, stronger, more absorbent and more insulating than cotton fiber. Hemp is a common name for Cannabis sativa and the name most used when this annual plant is grown for non-drug purposes. These include the industrial purposes for which cultivation licenses may be issued in the European Union (EU). In the UK licenses are issued by the Home Office under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act. When grown for industrial purposes hemp is called, often, industrial hemp, and a common product is fibre for use in a variety of different ways.
Hemp is great and makes amazing jewelry mainly due to its durablility and texture. With either wear or water, hemp will actually soften to become a comfortable piece of jewelry or collar as the case may be. Water also tightens the actual macrame weave of hemp to ensure that the knots are locked. It is soft to weave and has a natural earth tone that i find very pleasing to wear.
Everything!!!! As you can see from this chart found at
The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 outlawed the production of all marijuana and hemp plants.

You would have to smoke this much hemp to get high. You would probably die of smoke-inhalation first.
This is a fascinating subject as no one seems to understand all the money our country loses on hemp. From production, to cultivation, to manufacturing, and finally distributing the product, all the money is on foreign soil. Foreign farmers make riches growing hemp, foreign companies make even more money selling it to Americans who cant grow it! What would our economy be like if every time we all purchased hemp that money went into our country instead of someone elses? On top of that, all diesel engines need one small change in them and they could run off of hemp seed oil, as opposed to the black gold our country loves so much. Check our Woody Harrelson and his hemp fueled bus as well as all his other acts to legalize hemp production for our environment and for our farmers. And hemp is one of those amazing plants you can plant over and over again in the same field and it actually adds nutrients to the soil--ADDS NUTRIENTS! It can also be safely grown without pesticides and herbicides--imagine that!? Not to mention we wouldn't have to be cutting down every tree on the planet for our need for paper--hemp paper uses less pollutants to make and doesn't result in clear cutting ancient trees!
ACT! Join Hemp Meetup groups--boycott stores that don't offer hemp alternatives, petition your lawmakers(on hemp paper) to wake up and help the farmers. Most importantly you can get educated and make it a point to educate those around you to this amazing plant and how much we could use it, and actually need it. The government is too good at spreading lies for us to expect anyone to know the truth about this plant--so read something and get out there and get your voice heard! Keep in mind that all the money you spend on hemp in a way hurts our country financially. And money is the only thing that talks in the US--so lets make it scream!!
