Changed lines 30-56 from:

Ok, so the short of it is very simple. One day (back in Nam) Amy and I were looking around and we realized that we had all these tie-dye kits that people had given us.
"What are we going to do with all these Dye Kits?"
So of course we hit our closets, the local thrift store, our friends closets, (thank you!) and a department store or two before we sat down and started dying, and dying, and dying, (just keep dying, just keep dying) .......
"What are we going to do with all this tie dyed clothing, and aprons, and tapestries...?"
First I believe we had a Rummage Sale in Riverwest and it was lots of fun! So we walked over to the local Gardner's Market.
"Hello--you want a booth?"

And from the Tie Dye kits and randomness we have evolved into a collaboration of friends that love being crafty. Amy is taking care of her family, but we meet new friends that want to help and be involved every day!

We immediately began working on Hemp--anything we can do with hemp!

And being the animal lovers we all are, we had to offer an environmentally friendly alternative to rough nylon collars!

For Winter Solstice '04 we tried our hands at candle making!

Thanks to our Love of Lucy Lou we are able to offer beautiful glasswork! Not only that, but locally crafted glasswork.

Currently we are working on getting out there on the Dog scene with Companion Natural Pet

Love Peace and Dye is even evolving into a nation wide event! We have a wonderful glass worker in Pennsylvania that shares his art with us, so that we can share it with you! Thank you D!!
And none of us know what tomorrow brings...do you??
I would like to take this to the road, be at festivals every day spreading our kindness and love for the planet. Perhaps someday there will be branches of Love Peace and Dye in all the states we have traveled through....
"Tommorow Never Knows...." John Lennon

Did i miss anything girls?? Thank you so much for all this fun and sharing in the creativity!!!!!! I love you all!

to:

Love Peace and Dye is a business like no other, in that my one hope for all that we do, is that we inspire someone else out on this planet to realize the ever present power of their dollar-how they spend it, what they are supporting. Every dollar spent on Love Peace and Dye and our merchandise goes directly to making more items, and to making this world a more sustainable place. This idea started in alot of different ways. From realizing how much stuff around the house we can make into newer and cooler stuff, to locating places to get recycled goods. Love Peace and Dye is always trying new and creative ways to recycle the products we have into the products we want. By paying attention to this, and to where we spend our money, we start to hold the power of Our dollar in Our own hands. We dont HAVE to support sweatshop labor and cruel and inhumane working and labor conditions. We dont HAVE to support republican run businesses. We dont HAVE to do anything this society tells us to do in order to live and survive. What we do Have to do is make a place for us and those who think like us. A place for peace and recycled products !! A place for sustainablility and ethics in all forms of business. We just have to stand proud and make this place! I firmly believe that any business can do its job and survive in a sustainable and environmentally conscious way. More than that, I believe we should EXPECT this consciousness in all forms of business. So lets start standing up and demanding it!!!

Our Experience with Kefir

A couple of months ago Monkey's Mom sent her out some Kefir Grains, or brains, which ever you prefer. While she is in germany Tiffany is Kefir sitting which in turn creates a need for her to do something with all this Kefir!!
Tiffy*pop*'s Experience with Kefir
Most of the information I have learned about Kefir comes from this website http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html %%
Kefir is a crazy thing and produces like crazy!! Currently I am experimenting with cheese and fruit smoothies.

Soon to be a Love Peace and Dye smoothie recipe!!

Until then, I would like to share Sara's Moms thoughts on
Kefir Pancakes!

  • Kefir seems to work with both "from scratch" and mix pancakes. Simply add equal parts of wet and dry, plus and egg or two. You can also use Half Kefir and Half applesauce as your one part wet and enjoy an apple pancake--Sounds Yummy!!
    • Also Try Pumpkin or Bananna Pancakes with nuts and spices!

  • A great Kefir Drink is a simple mix of Kefir and sugarless coffee syrup

  • Kefir can be used instead of buttermilk in pancakes, biscuits, coffecakes and sourdough!

Thanks Monkey's Mom!!
